Transitions to working with a younger populations-
“I wish I knew this when I was younger.” Was a common response I heard as I would worked with mature adults.
I enjoyed working with younger caregivers who were very receptive to the wisdom, insights and perspectives of building one’s self worth and finding meaning and purpose in life as one gets older.
The positive impact I was having on the Millenials, Gen X-ers and Baby boomers addressed the challenges of caregiving with other struggles and issues of midlife, such as, parenting, teenagers, empty nesting, menopause and Aging. It became clear to me that I loved working with this group as well, using the wisdom, interventions and perspectives from my older patients. Practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Insight Oriented Therapy and Acceptance Therapy as well as mindfulness, meditation and EMDR patient’s overall mental health improved significantly.
